Paid Surveys
Taking part in paid surveys is one way of earning money online. The surveys are provided by companies who need to know what people think about their product. Focus groups used to be the popular way for companies to find out this information, but with the advent of the Internet, online paid surveys are now the most common method.
The reason a company will pay to have you take part in a survey is that they need to constantly improve their product. They need ordinary people to tell them what they think, what their experience with the product was, and what they think might make it better. If the company can improve the product, they can increase their profits. That’s why they are willing to pay you for taking part in a survey.
There are a number of places on the Internet where information can be found about the various companies who will offer paid surveys. Survey Club is one such resource.
Unlike many websites online, they will not charge you for the information of which companies are actively seeking people to take part in paid surveys. The site has an irritating audio introduction that seems to have no way to be turned off, but the site is free to join and claims to have almost 15 million members, which should speak for itself.
Don’t expect to earn a lot doing this. There are claims of earning up to $150 an hour. It might happen for one hour once, but not for a typical eight hour day, every day. It’s true that companies pay an average of more than $250 billion a year on market research, but not all of that money goes to people taking part in paid surveys.
The kind of surveys you could expect to be asked to participate in will be as varied as you can imagine, though your interests may be taken into account. You could be asked to take part in a survey about washing powder, cake mix, a latest movie or a vacuum cleaner. If it is a product that is currently selling, there may well be a survey about it.
Unfortunately, there are many scams on the Internet that involve surveys for pay. For this reason you need to be careful about where you register, and who you pay money to. Paying a website to gain information about which companies are willing to pay for surveys is the easy way, but not necessarily the best way.
You don’t have to pay anyone to discover the whereabouts of paid surveys. Places like Survey Club can help, but they won’t tell you where every single survey can be found. You can discover them yourself with a bit if digging, but it might take a while, though perseverance will pay off.
A refreshingly honest question and answer page about online paid surveys can be found at Time To Teach. They make it clear that while paid surveys are a great way to earn a little extra money, it should not be seen as a career in and of itself. Be realistic in your expectations and you won’t be disappointed.
